Spring Lilac Eyes featuring MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 3

Despite the insane amounts of pollen floating around outside here already, I always enjoy spring because there is a feeling of rebirth and possibility in the air. It’s been quite warm here in the south, already hitting into the mid 80’s. I used the limited edition MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 3 to create a spring inspired look that’s perfect for Easter or just warm, sunny days ahead. Though this is a very cool-toned eye makeup look, it will really flatter a variety of eye colors and skin tones. Pastels are always everywhere during the spring and these shades are complementary enough to give you a soft, ethereal effect.

The MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 3 is inspired by florals and is limited edition. I had a hard time choosing what shades I wanted to use because they are all so super pigmented and rich in color. In the end, I chose to go with a lilac eye because it’s soft and wearable for a variety of ages and occasions.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK:

1. Apply Shade 1 into the crease of your eye with a fluffy blending brush. I like to make sure I am look downward into the mirror when I am applying my crease color. It just ensures that you’re placing it properly and blending well. I extended this shade close to my brow-bone since it is our transition shade.
2. Using Shade 2 on the same fluffy blending brush, work this shade back and forth into the socket of your eye only. Do not extend this shade any further than the crease of your eye only. You can also blend any excess into the outer corners of the eyes. This shade is used to deepen the crease of the eye up and add depth.
3. Using a flat eyeshadow brush, apply Shade 3 to the eyelid. Stop this shade just before you get to the crease and use a patting motion so that the lilac shade is noticeable.
4. Apply Shade 4 to the inner corners of your eyes using a small pencil brush. This adds a nice pop of light and interest to the entire look.
5. Lightly apply Shade 5 to the brow-bone to blend out your transition shade and add a highlight there.
6. Go back with Shade 1 and your fluffy blending brush, and sweep this all along the lower lash-line for some added definition to the bottom of your eyes.

How you finish off the look from here is all personal preference. If you’re into more natural looking makeup, you can certain just add mascara and be done. I added a flesh-colored liner to my lower water-line and added eyeliner to my upper lashes, flicking the corners out into a cat-eye. I love the way pastel eye shades contrast with intensely dark winged eyeliner.

The look has some dramatic intensity to it, with a darker socket color and that pop of mauve in our transition color and lower lash-line shade. The lid is light and airy, perfect for spring, and the inner corners of the eyes reflect that champagne-beige shimmer I used. The flesh-colored liner really opens up the eyes, making them look bright, large, and less tired.

In following suit with the soft, spring inspired eye makeup, I kept the rest of the makeup quite soft.
